One of the biggest annoyances to us vapers these days is the persistent myth that is commonly trotted out by politicians and lobbyists firmly against electronic cigarettes, the Ecigs are a gateway to tobacco smoking. This idea that E-cigs are more accessible, therefore children and non-smokers will be far more likely to pick them up and be so led to smoke tobacco once they have gained a taste for the nicotine and habit of it. Not only does this argument not make sense since E-cigarettes are used as a better alternative to smoking tobacco and wouldn't really lead others to move on from vaping, but it has been consistently proved false through studies and tests.
The Guardian released an article today that shows how main-stream media is finally catching up to this fact. It even contains a quote from Deborah Arnott, chief executive of ASH, saying, “While it is clearly important to continue to monitor smoking rates and the use of electronic cigarettes in adults and children, so far there is no evidence that use of electronic cigarettes is proving to be a gateway into smoking”.
